Although you won't have to multitask much at the start of the game, the more levels you beat, the more you'll have to do. For example, you'll have more patients in the waiting room that you'll have to check in, or they could get angry and leave. How many patients you can see at once -and therefore how much money you'll get to invest in the hospital- depends on how many resources you have.
